There are six maps. You can select any of them. TheGamer’s walkthrough says story-minded players should start on Lavernock, and calls that map arguably the easiest. Wales Interactive has not published an official difficulty ranking, so this page will not invent one. Release order is the checkable order.

A route that is easier to follow

For a first clear, start with Lavernock on Normal or a lower difficulty, follow the ground cables and objective text, and learn the path from spawn to the main quest rooms before attempting a hidden objective. This is editorial advice, not an official map ranking.

Doors create most of the navigation friction. Open a route to the required weapon and upgrade machine before spending heavily elsewhere. In a squad, agree who is advancing an escort or timer; unannounced interactions can start a fight while the others are buying ammunition.

Each map page separates its main quest from its hidden objective. Music routes are collected on the six-map music guide; the four original seals are explained on the God Killer guide. Later hidden stories do not replace those four seals.

Release order

Every map below is part of the install. Cosmetic DLC does not gate them. House of the Damned and Tides of Terror were free updates after 1.0. The four launch-era maps each have a God Killer seal. Music eggs exist on all six.

Six. All of them are in the game without a map-pack purchase.

What order should I play?

Release order if you care about the story: Lavernock, Hotel, Sewers, Fortress, House, Tides. Any map can be selected immediately.

Which map is hardest?

There is no official chart. Community guides call Y Cracen on Tides the hardest boss. That is a community note, not a publisher ranking.
